At just 19 years old I created Salt-Shark from being tight and lazy! Yes that right, you see, after months of searching, I couldn't find a good value for money product to wash my boat. The ones I did find, you'd have to waste time trying to measure out exactly 45ml to get half decent value for money. Hence, tight and lazy!

Having ran a couple small businesses throughout highschool, I saw this problem in the market and decided to go all in and create a solution! Employed as a building apprentice at the time, I often worked past midnight after getting home from the construction site, to build Salt-Shark from the ground up. 12 or so months later, I took the risk to go full time with Salt-Shark and now in my early 20's I'm not turning back! My mission is to take Salt-Shark from starting in my neighbour's basement here in New Zealand, to the rest of the world!

Salt-Shark now has 4 warehouses across the world, including: Auckland-New Zealand, Melbourne-Australia, Utah-USA and the Netherlands-Europe!

Out growing our first warehouse

Before we expanded overseas, we outgrew our first ever warehouse in 2025. Needing to find a bigger and better warehouse to keep up with our growing demand in New Zealand.

We moved into our first warehouse

Starting Salt-Shark in my neighbour's basement, we quickly outgrew that and needed to move into our first ever warehouse. Which we stayed in until 2025!

Age 15, first ever business shed

Before Salt-Shark was created, my entrepreneurship journey started long before. At age 15, I started my first business, at age 17 I started my second, and then at age 19, I founded Salt-Shark!

What a journey it's been, and it's all thanks to you! My customers and supporters!

WHAT’S OUR WHY?

Our why is to keep solving the problem I found in the market and allow customers around the globe to access our solution. My goal is to take Salt-Shark from a small New Zealand business to the rest of the world! The marine maintenance industry hasn’t seen innovation for over 30 years. Salt-Shark has broken the drought and brought you a product that is averaging 10 times better value for money than all other brands.

WHO’S BEHIND IT ALL?

Taylor Shields

Taylor grew up in New Zealand and from fishing to jumping off wharves with his family and friends, he grew a passion for the water at a very young age. Starting at the age of 15 whilst at highschool, he bought his first boat and got hooked. Years passed and 3 boat renovations later, he reached where he is today. During this same time, Taylor followed his passion for entrepreneurship and ran 2 businesses throughout highschool prior to founding Salt-Shark. Now, whilst working hard and enjoying the opportunities he has made for himself, he is dedicated to work towards giving back to the 2 people who have been by his side through the thick and thin, his parents!
